Best tips to recover from Jet lag

Jet lag isn’t just about post-travel irritability but in our dictionary it is also a trip killer! While your soul longs to the trip adventure, your body continues to run on the same rhythm it followed back home. It mainly happens when you cross multiple time zones so levels of alertness, appetite and sleep patterns are affected and adjusting to new waking, sleeping and eating times can take time that you should be using enjoying your trip.

Here is a list of the best tips to recover from Jet lag:

Try to get used to the destination time zone days before travel by going to bed hours earlier or later according to its time setting.

Leave your home while your body is fully rested. The secret lies in the few days before your trip. Try to eat healthy meals, drink enough water and exercise to energize your body and make sure to get a good night’s sleep before you fly.

Try to choose a flight that arrives in daylight as it will be easier for you to stay awake.

Upon arrival, try to stay awake till the local bedtime. Go for a walk and sightseeing and never sleep while day time. It is a good use of the first day and also forces your body to work according to local time.

When sleep time comes, use earplugs and eyeshades. They will help you to go back to sleep if you get up in the middle of night.

Lavender Essential oil is of a good use here. It is a proven sleep enhancer and promotes deep sleep. Use small drops of the oil on your pillow and the lovely aroma will relax you.

Prescription sleep medications are a solution but try to make them your last resort.
