The Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, topped the list of the safest cities in the world for the year 2024, according to the City Security Index issued by the Numbeo website.

According to the index, Abu Dhabi has maintained its lead in this classification since 2017, which means that it is at the top for the eighth year in a row.

This, of course, reflects the emirate’s global leadership in applying the best security standards to enhance the quality of life of citizens, residents and visitors.

Abu Dhabi topped the list in 2024, ahead of 329 global cities on the index.

Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the pioneering levels of security and safety achieved by Abu Dhabi have contributed to enhancing its attractiveness to tourists and visitors.

He added: “When citizens and investors feel confident in security and stability, they have the advantage of dealing with the government and local institutions, which encourages positive and effective interaction in a variety of development sectors in general.”

He pointed to the effective cooperation between various sectors in Abu Dhabi, and its contribution to Abu Dhabi being chosen as the safest city in the world for the eighth year in a row.

For his part, Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police, stressed that the efforts made to support the promotion of community well-being and security contributed to Abu Dhabi being chosen as the safest city in the world for the eighth year in a row.
